Colorado is nicknamed the
“Centennial State” because it joined the Union after a century of the United
States Declaration of Independence.
The state was named after the Colorado River. In Spanish, Colorado
means “colored red.”
It is the only U.S. state that lies entirely above 1000 meters’ elevation. Thus, it is also the nation’s
highest state.
During a study conducted on the water of Colorado Springs,
it was found that it was the presence of fluoride in the water that caused the residents to have
fewer cavities.
Fluorides are used commercially for
maintaining healthy teeth.
